An Indiana-based company, Boss Hog Barndominiums now builds in 26 states in every region of the country. They also ship barndominium kits nationwide, including in Hawaii and Alaska.
The company prides itself on being a one-stop shop for your barndo needs. In fact, they do everything in-house under their brand, from their design process to the actual construction of their barndominiums.
They also provide customized metal buildings for commercial purposes, storage, and more.
Boss Hog Barndominiums Services
Whether you’re looking for full-service construction or just a DIY kit, Boss Hog Barndominiums has everything you need.
Stock Plans and Full Customization Options
If it’s your first time building a barndominium, you might not know where to start. So, Boss Hog Barndominiums offers five stock plans you can use as a starting point. But you don’t have to stick with the original floor plan.
Instead, Boss Hog can customize their plans to fit your specific needs. They can also work from plans you found elsewhere on the internet, or even help you build a plan completely from scratch.
Custom Barndo Kits
Boss Hog Barndominiums has a huge service area for construction services, covering over half of the US. But even if you’re outside of their build range, the company can deliver a customized barndo kit to you wherever you are.
Just like with their standard floor plans, you can fully customize your barndo kit for your needs. They also design their kits for hassle-free construction and provide assembly instructions and detailed plans.
Boss Hog also offers guidance on construction after purchase, meaning you don’t have to worry about being left to your own devices. They’ll also work with any general contractor you might hire to help you assemble your barndo kit.
Boss Hog Barndominium kits include standard features like:
- Site preparation
- Septic with perc test
- Driveway installation
- Outer shell and interior finishing
Full Turnkey Construction
If you live in Boss Hog’s wide service area, they can help you not only design your barndominium, but also help you build it. They have a network of general contractors across the US that can help build your barndominium from the ground up.
They average 4-6 weeks for the design process, for which they use in-house architects and walk you through the whole process. From there, it takes 10-12 weeks for structure delivery and an average of 8 months for the full build.
Pricing
Boss Hog Barndominiums provides a general range of pricing per square foot for their stock plans. These full-turnkey designs range from $180-250 per square foot.
While they don’t have concrete pricing for custom homes on their website, Boss Hog does provide a general budget guide to its customers.
They recommend budgeting $200 per finished square foot, and between $175 and $300 or more for non-living areas per square foot.
And though they do offer finishing services, they note that much of the cost of a barndominium is the finish materials. They suggest that budget-conscious barndo owners can save by completing the interior finishing themselves.
Financing
Boss Hog Barndominiums works with a system of financing agents to help you purchase and build your new barndominium.
All you have to do is work with the agents to fill out the pre-approval form, and then they will submit your application to lending institutions for you.
Once your applications are approved, Boss Hog financing agents will walk you through the contracts so you can make an informed decision. Then, the agents will finalize the contract and you can get started on your dream home.

Customer Testimonials
Here’s what real customers are saying about Boss Hog Barndominiums:
Jesse C., BBB – “Set up an appointment for a call that their business says they’re super excited about and never called when the appointment was scheduled. Then told me they took another call during my appointment time so would call me […] Not a trusted business that cares about customers.” (1/5 rating)
Danette M., Yelp – “Went through the steps to get started with a plan and start a build…but they never called me, nor did they return my email!!! Very, very poor business communication!!!” (1/5 rating)
Mark Casteel, Facebook – “I scheduled a call on their website system which is how they instruct you to get started. My wife and I waited over an hour for the call, they “reserved” for us, and they never called. I’ve emailed twice since with absolutely zero response. If this is how they do business with someone attempting to hire them to build a home, I can’t imagine what the actual building process would be like after they have you on the hook.” (Not recommended)
