Affordable Luxury: Tiffany Pace’s Louisiana Barndominium & Its Backyard Oasis Under 100K

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscape of North Louisiana, this extraordinary residence showcases the remarkable vision and craftsmanship of a couple who transformed their dream into a reality.

Often affectionately referred to as a “shop house,” this distinctive property redefines the concept of comfortable living on a budget.

Tiffany Pace shares that “It really is just a 40 x 50 shop with a 10-foot porch across the front.”

Originally a shell with a roll-up garage door, the couple decided to enclose it, resulting in a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom haven with an open living room and kitchen. Everything was achieved while staying within a reasonable budget.

Situated on six acres of land, this property offers a tranquil escape from the every day, all for an incredible value of just under $100,000.

The outer shell, including concrete, came to a modest $18,000, and the couple’s hands-on approach to interior work further reduced costs.

What sets this property apart is not its size, but the thoughtful design and meticulous attention to detail.

“We don’t spend a lot of time inside,” Pace explains. “We spend most months outside, so creating the perfect outdoor space was a top priority for us…”

Take a closer look below at the creativity and resourcefulness of these homeowners as they continue to inspire with their remarkable journey of turning a sketch on scratch paper into a one-of-a-kind living masterpiece.

Living Area

This home boasts an open and inviting interior space that seamlessly connects the living area, kitchen, and dining area.

The hardwood floors exude warmth and elegance throughout, while a pinewood ceiling adds rustic charm overhead.

Ceiling fans gently circulate the air, ensuring comfort and a relaxed ambiance in this thoughtfully designed home.

An eclectic mix of materials on the walls creates a unique and inviting atmosphere.

The abundant window lighting floods the space with natural radiance, enhancing the overall appeal of the interior.

Personal decor choices infuse the home with character and warmth, making it a reflection of their individual style and personality.

Being in North Louisiana, heated floors and fireplaces may not be a necessity, but the couple did not skimp on comfort.

Double insulation was installed for noise reduction and temperature control, and an electric fireplace was added for both warmth and aesthetics.

Laundry/Bathroom

For added convenience, stackable appliances were placed in the bathroom, which also doubles as the laundry room.

Dining Area

Kitchen

The kitchen, a central hub of any home, was not overlooked.

A rough draft of their ideas was brought to Home Depot, where the kitchen cabinet department utilized a CAD system to bring their vision to life, providing precise cabinet numbers for a DIY installation.

This unique “shop house” stands as a testament to what can be achieved with vision, determination, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship.

The result is a harmonious blend of functionality, comfort, and style, all accomplished with a budget-friendly approach.
