Heather Jones’ Western New York Barndominium: Unveiling A Secret Bookcase & Other Fun Features

Welcome to Heather Jones’ splendid barndominium creation in Western New York.

Heather and her husband embarked together on this incredible journey, finishing their home in only 5 months.

This remarkable 1,750 square foot home features two bedrooms and two baths, exuding a cozy yet refined atmosphere.

The house boasts an attached 6-car garage with loft storage.

One of the standout features is a secret bookcase, adding an element of intrigue and sophistication.

Since they also value productivity, an office space is thoughtfully incorporated.

The outdoor pool, measuring 24′ by 18′, offers a refreshing escape.

Heather and her husband, seasoned professionals in the construction industry, played a hands-on role in the project.

With their concrete and masonry company, they tackled all the concrete work themselves, resulting in significant cost savings.

The rest of the construction was managed by trusted contractors who brought their vision to life based on a basic plan, meticulously refined by their architect to meet their exact specifications.

Excluding land and the pool, this barndominium offers incredible value, estimated at around $330K.

With the combined living space of 1,750 sq ft, an additional 180 sq ft breezeway, and a generously sized 1,650 sq ft 6-car garage, this property embodies the perfect blend of comfort and functionality.

The white Fabral Metal siding, paired with a sleek black roof and trim, exudes a modern and timeless appeal.

Stone accents tastefully punctuate the facade, adding rustic charm to the design.

The construction process was a collaborative effort, with the Amish handling the framing, siding, and roofing of the house.

Trusses were ordered from the same lumber company, ensuring consistency and quality throughout the project.

Heather and her husband made a deliberate choice to opt for a shingle roof, not only for its aesthetic appeal but also for its performance and reduced noise.

They recognized that roof maintenance would be easier in the long run.

The Jones’ thoughtfully graded the yard, allowing for rockhounding and the planting of lush grass.

The porch features a convenient sunshade, ensuring comfort during sunny days.

Their expansive outdoor porch, stretching an impressive 43 feet, provides ample space for relaxation and entertainment.

An outdoor firepit bar with comfortable seating creates the perfect ambiance for gatherings and cozy evenings.

Living Area

The living area of Heather Jones’ barndominium boasts a stylish and practical design.

The cement floor has been expertly ground and sealed, providing a sleek and low-maintenance surface.

With a width of 21 feet, the space feels open and welcoming.

The walls are adorned with Sherwin Williams Light French Gray, creating a soothing and elegant backdrop.

While the walls stand at a standard 8 feet, the cathedral ceiling soars to an impressive height of around 21 feet, adding a sense of grandeur to the room.

A unique feature of the living area is the hanging door near the peak.

The door isn’t floating; there’s a little door behind it that leads to the space above the kitchen, ensuring compliance with building codes.

Although it’s primarily for storage, Heather and her husband have added the charming barn door for decorative purposes.

The room is kept comfortable with a large 72-inch fan from Lowes, the Slinger by Fanmation and an inset fireplace.

The ceiling features a “breeze feature” that gently varies the fan’s speed, simulating a natural breeze.

These thoughtful additions enhance both comfort and ambiance, making the living area a perfect space for relaxation and gatherings.

The kitchen in Heather Jones’ barndominium is a beautiful and functional space.

It is seamlessly connected to the living area, allowing for easy interaction and entertainment.

The kitchen features solid wood cabinets that provide ample storage and add a touch of warmth to the room.

A standout element of the kitchen is the butcher block island, which not only enhances the functionality of the space but also serves as a stylish focal point.

The island generously seats up to 5 people, making it an ideal spot for casual meals and gatherings.

With a width of 20 feet, the kitchen offers plenty of room to move around and work comfortably.

Dual farmhouse chandelier pendant lantern lights hang gracefully over the island, adding a touch of rustic elegance to the space.

The walls of the kitchen are painted in Sherwin-Williams Light French Gray, creating a harmonious flow with the adjoining living area.

This color choice complements the overall design, providing a cohesive and inviting atmosphere in this well-appointed kitchen.

This bedroom is one of the two bedrooms in the home.

The design incorporates a tasteful blend of dark and light tones, creating a balanced and inviting atmosphere.

A ceiling fan has been installed in the bedroom, providing a refreshing breeze during warm days and enhancing the overall comfort of the space.

The two bathrooms in Heather Jones’ barndominium feature a cohesive and stylish design, sharing the same color scheme for a harmonious look.

White cabinetry in both bathrooms provides a clean and timeless aesthetic, and white marble countertops add a touch of luxury and sophistication to the spaces.

In the tub/shower combination, dark gray tiles with built-in shelving create a striking focal point, adding both functionality and visual interest to the bathroom.

Secret Bookcase

A clever addition is the secret bookcase in the hallway leading to the bathroom.

This innovative feature is a Murphy door disguised as a bookcase.

Behind its facade lies all the necessities of life, adding a touch of intrigue and functionality to the home’s design.

The garage in this barndominium is an impressive 40′ x 88′, providing ample space for six cars.

They had their builder strategically place the stairs, leading to storage above the garage, instead of opting for a bonus room, maximizing practicality and storage options.
